An incredible new innovation: VAASAN MagicRye 100%

Light and Soft. And yet 100% rye.

The beginning of year 2010 marks an exceptional time in the Finnish bread market as the new innovation from VAASAN replaces old ideas about rye bread. The new MagicRye 100% is wonderfully soft and fluffy. The surprising fact is that this bread is made completely of rye, with no wheat at all.

Research Engineer Seija Sulanto, how this is possible? “The secret behind this bread is the new baking method developed by our research and product development teams. This method successfully combines our knowledge in wheat and rye baking. One of the reasons why VAASAN MagicRye 100% has its light colour and texture and mild taste is the new baking method which leaves out the traditional souring of the dough.”

VAASAN invests heavily in research and product development. This new bread product is the result of this persistent and long-lasting work.

Families with children love it

VAASAN MagicRye 100% is available in rolls and as sliced loaves. Both are high in fibre. The rolls contain 8.8 grammes of fibre per 100 grammes and the sliced loaves contain 8.6 grammes of fibre per 100 grammes. The greatest interest in the new product has been shown by families with children and by health-conscious consumers.

“The taste of the product is so soft and delicious that it suits absolutely everyone. The mild taste of VAASAN MagicRye100% is also enjoyed by those children who would normally dislike the taste and texture of traditional rye bread. Families often choose which bread to buy according to their children’s preferences”, explains Product Group Manager Anu Heikkilä. Because the bread is not sour, it also suits people who want to avoid sour products in their diet.
