Vaasan & Vaasan Oy
has published its Corporate Social Responsibility Report for 2007. The report
can be read on the Group’s website or by opening
this link.
The consistent financial development of the company forms the foundations for responsible
operations at Vaasan & Vaasan Oy. Continuous growth in
profitability and the renewing of operations and products selections create a
strong base for the successful development of the company's social
responsibility and environmental efforts.
The bakery sector is the
most labour-intensive area of the food industry. At Vaasan & Vaasan Oy,
we bear our social responsibility by focusing on developing staff well-being
and competence through small-team work and training.
One of the company's most
significant environmental actions in 2007 was to replace fuel oil with
liquefied gas at the Kuopio bakery. We also began to deliver biowaste
from the Joutseno
bake-off production unit into ethanol production.
For decades, Vaasan &
Vaasan Oy
has conducted research and development in grain and grain products, both
independently and in partnerships with national and international universities
and research institutes.
Vaasan & Vaasan Oy's
fifth Social Responsibility Report covers social responsibility matters related
to business in Finland in 2007. GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) guidelines
have been used where applicable in this report.
