is having its 125th anniversary this year. To celebrate this, the company has started the construction works of a new bakery in the industrial area of Vilnius city, near the Aukštieji Paneriai
zone. In early 2008 Vilniaus Duona
will start the baking and distribution operations on the
new site. UAB Megarenta, a real estate development and management company, is Vilniaus
Duona’s
partner in this project.
The construction works of the new bakery started today on the site with
due ceremonies, where the members of the Boards of Directors and operative
Directors of the partners installed into the foundation of the coming bakery a
capsule, containing the drawings of the building and the regards and wishes to
the future generations. The new baking and logistics centre will be the most advanced in the Baltic countries. The
factory will be built according to the latest innovations and standards, based
on the modern design developed by Vilniaus Duona’s
parent company, the Vaasan
& Vaasan Group, in Finland.

On the longer run the company will concentrate all operations in two locations in Lithuania, in Vilnius and Panevėžys.

the partner of Vilniaus Duona in this project.
The new bread factory will start the operations next year. The factory will be expanded in the future with additional constructions accommodating several new production lines. The new factory building will be equipped with the most modern production equipment, focused to exceed all hygienic standards. For efficient and safe work the building will be also equipped with central cleaning and dust extraction systems.

The

UAB Vilniaus Duona is the leading
bakery in Lithuania and the largest bakery in the Baltic countries. At present the company has four bakeries in Vilnius and one bakery in Panevėžys.
The company also has two distribution centres, one in Vilnius and the other in Panevezys.
In 2006 the net sales of the company was 78 million litas ( EUR
23 million) and it had 840 employees.
The net sales of Vilniaus Duona in the first five
months of this year amounted to 37 million litas ( 10.7 million euros), showing a
growth of 20 percent compared to the last year.
Vilniaus Duona’s partner in the new
bakery building project is UAB MG Valda, which is the
leading real estate development company in Lithuania. It was founded in 1995. The company is today the largest office space management company in Lithuania. MG Valda manages in Vilnius 40,000
square meters
of modern offices and has one of the biggest logistics centres. At present MG Valda is actively involved in the development of various real estate projects in Lithuania and Latvia.
