FINN CRISP thin crisps and
crispbreads have already 50 % share in St. Petersburg and Moscow
Vaasan & Vaasan Oy's crispbreads and thin crisps pitch for market
leadership in Russia. Last year approximately 11 million consumer packages of
FINN CRISP were sold there. This is remarkable considering that the company has
operated in Russia only for six years. Export director Marina Korhonen mentions
that one of the biggest reasons of success has been the right timing. The Russian market has
stabilized in recent years, and with the right partner it has been possile to
grow fast. According to Mrs. Korhonen, crispbread market in Russia is
relatively small, but it is growing rapidly, about 10-15 % per year. The growth
is due to improvement in general living standard, and also the overall health
trend. It has reached
especially Russian women who have active lifestyle and are most urban and
educated. At the moment Russians eat only 100 g of crispbread yearly, whereas
Finns crunch 2 kg's and Swedes an immense amount of 3 kg's of crispbread
products per year. In Russia there are certainly new potential crispbread munchers as much as
there is room for higher per capita consumption.
FINN CRISP crispbreads and
thin crisps are sold almost to 50 countries all over the world. The biggest
export countries are Russia, Scandinavian countries, Germany, the Netherlands,
North America and Great Britain. All products are manufactured in Kotka, Finland.
