Vaasan & Vaasan Oy has published its Corporate Social Responsibility
Report for 2004 in Finnish and English. Both language versions of the report
are available in electronic format at Vaasan & Vaasan Oy’s website, www.vaasan.com.
Vaasan & Vaasan Oy’s Corporate Social Responsibility Report for 2004
focuses particularly on customer and consumer satisfaction, employee
satisfaction and wellbeing, rye and fibre research and environmental
responsibility.
“It is important for us to be seen as a trustworthy and valued partner by our
main interest groups. We carry out various customer satisfaction and consumer
surveys annually to help us direct our development efforts. Recent customer
satisfaction surveys and public investigations carried out by independent
research organisations place us among the top players in the daily consumer
goods sector,” says Vaasan & Vaasan Oy’s Managing Director Matti Lappalainen.
“A job satisfaction survey carried out in autumn 2004 indicates that our
employees have faith in our development work and its results, with improvements
in nearly all areas related to work, the work community and the environment
within the company,” Lappalainen continues.
For several years Vaasan & Vaasan Oy has been involved in extensive rye and
fibre research projects, which investigate the health benefits of rye and
wholegrains. The aim of Vaasan &
Vaasan Oy’s research and development operations is to create and maintain
superior international rye expertise and to develop versatile, delicious and
easy-to-use bakery products. The company strives to maximise the health
benefits of rye and wholegrain fibre in all its products.
Vaasan & Vaasan Oy has gathered data for environmental reporting
since 1994. The aim of these reports is to create a clear picture of the
company’s annual energy and water consumption, waste production and use of
packaging materials. Comprehensive reporting has made it possible to focus on
the most important areas of improvement from an environmental point of view.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Report for 2004 covers Vaasan & Vaasan
Oy’s Finnish operations. The creation of uniform pan-Baltic operating models
means that in coming years it will be possible to provide reports on the whole
group’s operations.
