The origins of Finnish Vaasan
& Vaasan go back over 150 years. In 1849 Vaasan Höyrymylly (Vaasamills) was
established when young chemist August Alexander Levon received the permission
from the City of Vaasa to establish Finland's first steam-powered mill. Hundred
years ago - in 1904 - Levon's vision of a steam bakery became reality when
bread baking started in the new bakery. This first bakery produced fresh bread
as well as crisp bread.
Today Vaasan & Vaasan Oy
is the second largest crisp bread producer worldwide and the biggest producer
of thin crisp bread. Vaasan & Vaasan has produced and marketed crisp bread
for export under the FINN CRISP brand since the 1950´s. The present FINN
CRISP product range covers thin crisps, small and big rounds and
rectangulars. All the products are available in various flavours and tastes.
FINN CRISP is an internationally
well-known brand, exported to some 30 countries. FINN CRISP is available for
consumers in approximately 50 000 shops all over the world. The most
significant export markets are Nordic countries, Germany, Great Britain,
Benelux region, North America and Russia.

FINN CRISP novelties – FINN CRISP
Garlic and FINN CRISP Roasted Onion - were launched in 2002 and they have been
extremely successful. The new thin crisp bread FINN CRISP Garlic was awarded
with the second prize in the product group of bread and baked products of
German HIT-Neue Produkte 2003. HIT-Neue Produkte is a substantial competion of
food novelties in which 850 selected representatives of German trade annually
nominate the best new food products of German markets.
