Healthy diet

The food pyramid illustrates the structure of a healthy diet. The food guide pyramid is good and simple way to describe a healthy diet.

In the pyramid, the size of each section represents the recommended amount of that specific food group in relation to the others. The priorities are the same as in building a pyramid; start with a wide and stable base and then add other layers tapering toward the tip. The food pyramid diet is built on plant-based foods: grains, vegetables, fruits, and legumes. Foods of animal origin provide important addition, but are consumed in smaller amounts.
