Different parts of Finland
have their own types of bread. A more sour variety of rye bread is popular in Eastern
Finland, usually in the form of loaves. In Western
Finland, bread is less sour and sometimes even sweet. Nowadays,
regional differences have begun to level out, and rye bread is mainly eaten as
portion bread in the whole of Finland.
The last few years have seen large amounts of new, modern types of rye portion
bread arriving at stores.
