In its versatility,
the composition of wholegrain is ideal: it contains more or less the
recommended amounts of carbohydrates and proteins. Wholegrain has a low fat content,
and mostly comprises good, soft fat. In addition, wholegrain is rich in fibre
and "co-passengers", i.e. vitamins, minerals, plant estrogens,
sterols and antioxidants that are found in the same parts of the kernel. The
co-passengers ensure that fibre in wholegrain is particularly beneficial.
